Snow globe

It is Christmas  I an so excited I get a snow globe. You will never guess what happens next. Just then it starts to change.  At I couldn't believe my eyes. It changed in to a Christmas and then a reindeer and then a lot of presents. Then suddenly it just went back to normal, just like that. It was a very special snow globe.

Santa parade

On Sunday I went to the Santa parade. It was fun.  There was lots of different floats like a cat, dog clowns, Santa and barbie and more! There was a float from East Taieri. Santa was there wishing us a merry Christmas. It was fun.

The Clocktower

Once upon a time there was a girl who lived in a clocktower. She had to keep dancing and turning to keep the colour in the world. But is was her life-long dream to go out and explore the word. On her 16th birthday she decided to go out. It was what she'd wanted her whole life. She went down to the bottom of the tower.  She ran out excitedly and went for a walk. When she was walking she realised that all the colour was slowly fading away. She was disappointed for it not to be a colourful world. What could she do? She ran back in to the clock tower and danced around the place. And the colour slowly came back.

Grandparents are important

Grandparents are important because they are always there of you and they love and care for you. They take me places and look after you. You can talk to grandparents about everything. They can tell me stories about your parents and their parents and you can talk to them. They will love you no matter what. Even if you don’t see them that often you can make lots of great memories when you are with them that you will remember for ever. Grandparents can take you places and have lots of fun. Your grandparents are very special. I love seeing my grandparents. 

Camp Columba

On Friday I went to camp Columbia for guide camp. On the first day we played some games and then went to bed. Then on the nest day we did lots of fun things.  We did low ropes.  It was lots of fun. Then we did the concrete slide.  It was so much fun.  We sat in a sack and went down. After that we did flying fox.  I enjoyed it. We had to put on a harness and then we got hooked up and went.  That was heaps of fun. Then I did the rock climbing. We had to get on a harness and get hooked up to the rope so if you fall it would catch you. I had a go. It was fun but then I came down. I had three goes. On my third go I got to the top of the rock wall. I had a lot of fun. We did the abseiling next.  We had to climb up this long ladder.  When I got to the top it was really high, then I went down.  We had to hold a rope for your speed. It was heaps of fun. I couldn't do the high ropes because you had to be year 7 and up. The camp was a lot of fun.

      

All blacks

Today room 6 & 7 went to Peter Johnston Park to see some of the All Blacks.  The All Blacks that were there were Tamiti Ellison, Ben Smith, Andrew Hore and Ben Franks. When we first got there we were all excited to see them. Then we got a group photo with the All Blacks. We had to line up to get their autographs. It was a great time.  

The fair fun

On Sunday I went to the fair. It was a great day for the fair. It was lots of fun. At the fair there was a triage so Ciara, Zara, Mia and I all raced over to the Triage. I got a cut on my face and a black eye. It looked real!

Ciara, Zara and I went in the caterpillar. It was lots of things that you can explore. It was lots of fun.  We went in it three times. The fair was lots of fun

Room 7 Camp Assembly

On the last day of term we went to room 7 camp assembly. Fist they started off with two boys acting out a play called goodnight.

Well in a way it was not the boys. Someone else’s hands were behind there back. They showed us lots of photos and videos.  They also did a play called Mrs Brown’s boys.  It is a really funny T.V show.  It was really funny to watch.  

Turtle

I am off to play with my best friend Allie.  We are playing. When we see something we go and see what it is. It doesn’t look friendly so we race home. We go home for a drink and then we go and get some shells. We have lots of fun. Then suddenly we see a strange looking object.  We swim but it is quite far away. It sparkles in the distance.  We are finally there.  It is a sunken ship. We go exploring. We find a lot of different things and then we go home and have tea.

Stray Dog

I live in the dump all alone in this big cold world. I was abandoned when I was a pup, when my mum got taken away. I have been alone all my life, just eating the scraps from the rubbish, roaming around the streets trying to find some food. I try to find some food.  There is a bin over there, maybe there is some food in it, but there is one problem the road has too much traffic.  I decide to go for it. I dart across the road dodging cars but then suddenly I get hit by a truck. I get up, very afraid. I walk over to the bin and lucky a hamburger is there. I get even more luck, a very nice family takes me in and I am never alone again.   

Georgia's story

In the holidays we when to Naseby.  We stayed with my nanny. We went skating and on the luge and to the snow park.  It was hard on the luge because we had to steer the opposite way to what you are going.  You had to lean towards the wall. We also went skiing in Tekapo at Round Hill. It was my first time. I went skiing with two of my uncles, my aunty and my dad.  It was lots of fun.

Why do we only eat certain animals?

Some new skills I learnt is how to skim through information and put it in my own words. Next time I would lay out my visual image differently and I would memorise more of it because I forgot some of it. 

Museum Sleepover

Anzac parade

The Anzac parade started at 9 o’clock by the RSA. I was very lucky because I got to be in the Anzac parade for guides. We walked around the block. There were a lot of people at and in the Anzac parade. There were also four gun shots. It was really fun to be in it. People also had wreaths.  

   

   

RSA

Today we went to the R.S.A.  We learnt about Anzac day.

We learnt that it was not fun, it was very scary. A lot of people went to war but not all of them came back. It didn't feel good to kill. If there was not the war, things wouldn't be the same today.

We saw a lot of medals and photos of people who fought in the war.   

Ted 2012 Sketch up

Today Zara, Ciara, me, Laura, Michaela, Anahera, Lorie Mia, Josh and Callum went to Ted2012. My favorite part was Sketch up. You get to design your own house. Zara and I made a really big house with a pool and a veggie garden. It was a lot of fun. We could design the inside and outside of the house you could choose the wall paper the outside like wood or bricks.       

Dudley comes to school

Last Friday our puppy Dudley came to visit room 6. He liked getting all the attention. Dudley is a lab cross collie. Dudley is 9 weeks old. Dudley is black and has a little bit of white.  We have had Dudley for 9 days! Dudley is very playful. We drove to Oamaru to get Dudley. Dudley eats puppy biscuits, puppy roll, milk and water.  Dudley is quite big for 9 weeks. He dug up mums plants. Dudley is an outside dog, but sometimes he can came inside when he is good, sometimes.

Butterfly miracle

Monday Room 6 saw the most amazing thing. We saw the most amazing thing! We saw our last butterflies come out of their chrysalis.  It was really amazing. We missed our last butterflies coming out of their chrysalis so it made it more really amazing to see. When it came out of its chrysalis its wings were really little and its body was huge! But in about 15-20 minutes its wings weren’t as big.  

Koru Shapes

When Mrs K was sick we cut out Koru shapes and displayed them with Ms P.

Paper Koru Art!

Step 1.First we got a piece of black paper and two pieces of coloured paper.

Step 2.Then we got to choose what shape for our base. We could choose four different shapes - Square, rectangle, triangle and circle.

Step 3.We folded our pieces of coloured paper half then half again.

Step 4.Then we drew koru’s on our paper. It was best to draw them on the crease line

Step 5.Then we had to make patterns out of the koru shapes.

Then once we had got our shapes in the right position we stuck them on the paper. We had to make sure that the bottoms of the korus are touching the edge of the paper or connecting to another koru.
