Limerick
There once was a young lady called Sue
Who drank some glue from the loo
It dried in her throat
She couldn't eat any goat
And that was the end of Sue

The non-stop rain...
Last weekend we had a lot of rain which flooded some shops
on the main St of Mosgiel. Today we went walking down the Main St. We went past ANZ and we saw a
dehumidifier right at the front of the
bank. Most shops we went past had a dehumidifier in it. We stood outside Blend
espresso while Brya and Mrs K went in to see if Brya or Zacks Mum was working
to tell us what happened when the rain was flooding.

My fish
My six pound trout
In the weekend I went fishing
at the Taieri River . I caught a sea trout. I was
fishing at around nine o’clock in the evening. I had done about twenty casts at
one spot. I was casting in the most random way when at the most unexpected moment I hooked up. I wound up the fish with all the energy I had. Dad told me
to come around the bay and up the small bank. I took it slowly to tire out the
fish. At this time I thought it was a tiddler because the fish had more energy
than me. But the fish shall not beat Fisherman Sam with all the strength we
have to land the fish up onto the bank. The size was unknown until we were able
to see it. It was hard to see the fish because the water was murky. When we got
on land Dad got the pliers and squished its head. It wasn’t dying so I got the
spanner and whacked it on the head. I kept on working my way down the river
each cast hoping for another fish to catch. I had another bite but he didn’t
like it. We went back home and gutted it.
We had it for tea the next night it was yum.

My grandparents
Grandparents are
important because they care for you. They also look out for you. Grandparents
are fantastic because they have many talents. I like my grandparents because
they tell you things about when your parents were young. They also have funny
jokes to share. I like when you go for a walk with them because they take you
to the park and get some food to share. Grandparents buy the best birthday
presents and Christmas presents. Grandparents are cool because they let you
stay up late watching T.V. Grandparents are
creative and fabulous. Grandparents take
you anywhere. Grandparents are Awesome! I love my grandparents.

All Blacks visit
Today we went to Peter Johnstone
Park . We saw the mighty
All Blacks. We saw Tamiti Ellison, Ben Smith and Andrew Hore who were all
Highlanders. We also had Ben Franks who was a Crusader. After the presentation
we got our autographs. Our whole class got a photo with the All Blacks. The
first all Black I went to was Ben Smith. Ben Smith's Dad works at Placemakers.
My dad knows his Dad. Ben Smith was from Abbotsford. I next went to Andrew Hore
This line was really big. I was waiting for about three minutes. I finally got
there. Andrew was from the Manitoto. I next went to the mighty Tamiti Ellison.
I got his autograph. Tamiti was from Wellington .
I next went to the tough prop Ben Franks. Ben was from Canterbury,
My Donation at the Fair
At the fair I went
to the fabulous money golf. There were not many people lining up for money
golf, it was like we were in the Sahara
desert. It was my turn. I visualized where I was going to hit the ball. I put
my two tickets into the box. I picked up the minuscule golf club. I hit the
ball which went straight past the five dollar note. It was about to hit the
other five dollar note. But I had put too much power into the hit and it went
straight past the gleaming five dollar note. I still had another three hits to
go. The next three glorious hits had missed.
At fun O’clock I
went to the triage tent. The St Johns
people did wounds on our legs arms and head. I went onto the hot seat to get
some blood oozing wounds. All of the parents had to look twice to see if it was
real or not. The fair was amazing.

Our School Move
At the end of term
3 we were told that room 5 and 4 were moving to holy cross grounds. The
builders were Stewart’s construction. They had to get the rooms on to a big
truck. When they got to the building site they had this big springy thing me
jiggy. Fulton Hogan did the excavation. Before we moved the rooms some tree
cutters cut down two trees. They also put down stilts.

CONGRATULATIONS to Sam - first 100WC published!
Looking behind me I saw...
...a big hairy three headed troll growling at me. I was about a kilometre into the mine when a pack of trolls break out and chase me. I find a cave and stay silent. I can smell a disgusting stench. Straight after that the whole herd of Hoofalumps fart after one another. These farts weren't normal farts, they were beyond loud and proud or silent and violent they were the two mixed. After a quarter of an hour I decided to make a run for it over the trolls. I wake them up. I sprint for my life to the entrance. When I get there I find the trolls have gone away, probably because of light.

Stray
Hi, I’m Jack the German pointer. I live a very lonely life because I’m a
stray. I have to scavenge around for food. Now its night I’ve been searching in
every skip and garbage can for food. It has been an unsuccessful night. I’m
drenched. It feels like I’m carrying a kilogram of stone on my back. It feels
so depressing to have no home, no food and no owner. What can be worse than that? I decide to make
a life changing journey to the country. When I get further and further to the
country there is more road kill. At night I silently sneak onto the road and
snatch all the meat off the skeleton. I see one big light. Then I find out that
it’s two lights. I feel so freaked I run into a wire fence. I think I have
broken my nose into a thousand minuscule pieces. I have one big deep cut too.
One good thing is I’ve found shelter. I feel like I’m losing lots of blood. I
suddenly have a blackout. Two minutes later I feel a whole lot of pain. I then
die.

Our kindness
On Friday when the cake stall was on.
Sam and I, just like Kurt gave some money to some of our friends. I said to my
cousin Jonty I'd give him some money for the cake stall and so I gave him $5. And
Sam gave Alex $4 and Gracin $3 for the cake stall. When Mrs K said that Kurt
gave a boy in room 3 $3 Sam and I confessed that we gave some of our money to
our friends Mrs K almost would of found herself dancing on her chair. Our friends were
very grateful and they were very happy to know that their good old buddy's Sam
and Jack are right there to help whenever.

Animal Inquiry
At school we had been studying animals. I did New Zealand pests. There are more pests than you think in New Zealand, like argentine ants, deer, goats and thar. We had to do a visual poster and a fact poster. I think my visual poster is pretty cool because the background is bush and scrub. It also looks like there is tree growing on my poster. I like my fact poster because it has lots of facts.

Golf with Melanie
Today we had golf with Melanie in the Rec.
First we used flags. We had a church hand and a fence hand. First we had to hit
a big bouncy ball. It was hard to hit far because it was heavy. We were in
groups of three. There were two people at the end and one hitting the ball. We
also used a tennis ball and squishy rubbery golf ball. We used a rubber golf
ball because if someone got hit it wouldn’t hurt as much as a hard golf ball.
We learnt what to say if a golf ball was coming at us. The word to use was
fore. Alex did some really big hits what went straight past us.

Anzac
Today we went to the RSA. We went there to look at all of the medals,
ammunition, model war ships and tin helmets. We meet Mr. Currie who served in
the war. He is 92. He was a soldier. We
looked at some photos of other people who served in the war. I found some of
Callum’s relatives. We had a person who greeted us at the door. He showed us
around. The person who greeted us was Bing. Elvia told us some stories about
the war.

Assembly
On the 23rd of March Room 6 had their class assembly.
We did it at the hall.
We told what we did in our eight weeks of learning.
We showed a lot of how we learn and what we do on Funky Friday.
Our bloopers were getting there in time and getting our stuff.
Our special moments were when we showed our art work or our posters.
The highlights of the assembly were the audience’s reactions.
I also liked how there was a big turn out.
The audience’s reaction was great because there would always be a smile on their faces.
I like how they reacted at the end of a presentation or photo story.
My favourite bit was when we did the welcome/Waiata songs.
I also liked how we did the metamorphosis of caterpillars. The metamorphosis shows us becoming great learners.

Dunedin Metro Trials
1st trial: On Sunday Sam, Josh, Mason and Thomas went to the first metro trial at the high performance centre. They were looking to see our technique for batting and bowling. We were very nervous. All four of us bowled for 20 minutes. We batted for about 5 minutes each. Mason ran Thomas out about five times.
2nd trial: on the next Sunday Thomas, Sam and Mason got through to the second trials. Sam hit a couple of fours. Thomas got 15 runs then Mason bowled him out. The green team batted and Mason got about 14 runs and then Thomas gave revenge to Mason and bowled him out sadly. Sam was next bowler and he got a hatrick off the same person and then about 2 balls later Sam caught a brilliant catch.
We all got in to metro and first game is against south Canterbury on 4th of March at Logan Park.

Our playground
At our school we two playgrounds, one for the seniors and one for the juniors. In our school we play lots of other things like rugby, American football, soccer, cricket, long ball and ball tag. Right now some of the boys are playing cricket. Each day we have a fruit break. For the fruit break we go for a run and then we have a rest and then have a fruit and a drink of water. My favourite game is cricket.
