The Hungry Games Part 2

We race to our private jet to get to the Sahara desert, going as fast as
possible.  We have to get that piece of chocolate. Finally we've reached the
desert.  It is huge! How are we going to find one piece of chocolate in this.
Wait what's this? Is that the piece of chocolate? We go down.  Yes there it is.
I jump out of the plane, grab the piece of chocolate and jump back in. We
are flying over the ocean I am about to eat it when I get knocked and it
falls into the ocean.

PLN AND PLE

At school today we shared our PLN and PLE.  Some of things we had on it were what we learnt off and who we learnt off.  My favourite way to learn is on my ipod.

Gracin grandparents

My grandparents are important because they love and care for me. They
spoil me and teach me about their life and my parents life. My favorite
part is that every time they pick me up I get an ice block if I feel like
it. I also like when nana, pop and I go out for dinner or lunch. When we
have family nights out I always sit beside pop because he's always got
some thing to talk about and it's usually golf. I love my grandparents
just as they are now, I would never give them away.

Valerie - our hero

Today we went to see Valerie Adams at the Warehouse. We saw her walk in
and she was too tall for the door!  First we waited out side to let the members 

of the public in first.
When it was our turn to go in we were all excited to see her. In one of
our photos it looks like she is touching one of the signs. My favourite
part was when we saw her get out of the car. Soon after that we went and
got some autographs on some books that we took.  We made one of our own
books that we gave to Valerie Adams.

Gracin Athletics

On Thursday we went to the athletics day. We started off doing the long
distance run. I was in it.  It was 800 meters and the younger kids had to run
400 meters. When we started I had a bad start and slipped. then the race
was really on.  When we got to Mrs K we all went into the inside ring and
then people started getting well ahead of most of us. At the finish I gave
it all I had and passed Sam and Kaelen. I was so wobbly at the end of the
race. I was so happy that the race was over and I was proud of myself at
the end. After that event we went to the shot put and I got a 1. I wasn't
too proud of that effort. Then we went to long jump and I got a 2 whoo hoo.
I tried my hardest on the run up and then bulleted off with such power that
I made it into the 2s. Then I went to the sprints and had to sit down and
wait for the other group to finish.  Soon after that we started our own
races and I came first in my first race and then second in the semi final
then had to sit down with the others. We were all cheering for Thor to win.  He had a
bad start but then he kicked in and passed everyone and into first place.  We were
all congratulating him on his victory. After the 75 metre sprints we went
to the discus. Finally I think I am at something that I always do good at.
When it is my turn to go I hear Josh in the crowd saying good luck Gracin.
I give it my best and get in the 2s. And then the best throws from the 2
and the 3 section get to throw again.
I throw mine and get it so close to the 3 point mark the man said I was
nearly there. When we got to the 60 meters I didn't do very good well. I
came third in my first race and have to sit out. I'm pretty disappointed about
that but Thor and James are still racing. I'm yelling out go go go. Thor
comes first and makes our school proud in every race to me. When we get to
high jump most of us clear the first one.  When we get to the last one, it was 1.5 meters high. That was our last event I am very proud.

School Fair

At the fair I started off playing with Thomas. After that we went to the triage tent that gave people gruesome cuts, black eyes and more. Then I went and watched Sam get his nails and face painted as a butterfly.  When I was walking round I found Jonty and played with him.  We went to the bungee run and I won a sparkling lemon and he won a cola. We had a heap of fun. The fair was really cool.                                             

Stray

I am unloved. I live in an abandoned factory. I used to be a house pet. My family died right in front of me. Now I eat cookie dough and live with a friend.  We like to go to the ruins of the city. Few people still live there after we got invaded and bombed. There’s artillery everywhere. Sometimes we find meat which is like a treat to us. There’s a waterfall which is the only supply of water we have to go when no one is there, or we could get killed so we go back home. Soon it becomes night time. We rush outside and go to the water fall.   We get a drink and then we here an argument over something.  My friend saves me. He pulls me out of the way, back to the factory. It was some war folk. He said that’s bad news. In the morning we’re going back down south to the place where we came from.      

Transit of Venus

Today Venus crosses the suns path. Mrs. K gave us some solar view glasses.  When we look up at the sun it looked like an upside-down orange.  When we first looked Venus was in the right hand corner.  Second time we went out it had moved just beside the middle.  We looked again with all the school it had moved up a little bit.

          

Perfectly pretty parading peacocks...

With Mrs. Dykes we painted peacocks.  First we had to draw with pencil the neck of the peacock and then some tail feathers. Then we had to do some lines with some circles in them for the background then we had to go over it in vivid. Once we had done that we started painting them.  We used colours like blue, black, yellow and so on.  When we started they looked so cool.  When we were done we had to go over them again with vivid.  They looked absolutely stunning.  Then we took photos of them and stuck them on the wall.

       

ANZAC day

Today we went to the R.S.A.  We got to learn a bit about ANZAC day and a lot about the war. We got to meet Mr. Currie.  He was in World War 2 and is now 92. We got to wear army helmets and see little models of boats. We also got some rosemary.  Some people got to see some relatives.  We had a man named Bing who greeted us at the doors.  We got to see tank shells and bullet shells.

Metallica story

Metallica has long springy legs that are made for soft landings,and a body like a can of baked beans.  His head is shaped like a rugby ball with one huge eye, triangular ears with antennae sticking out of them. He has square finger nails and two propellers for a hat. He lives in space in an abandoned space station with all his friends. 

Dragon Adventure number fifteen...

My dragons name is Stevin,  He is a water dragon and can swallow twenty viking ships with out knowing. He has gone on Easter holiday to Romania where he originally grew up. He is also looking foward to meeting his parents again. Hopefuly he will meet some of his old friends and tell me what they are like. He will get back in May and tell me about his adventure.

Our 'Reuben Patterson" inspired Koru Art

With Mrs. D we did koru art. First we started off by ruling a line down the middle, then we started drawing korus. After that we painted them. Soon we started glittering them. I reckon they looked cool with the glitter on. Then we started the other side of the korus. Again we had to draw them except this time when we did them we had to draw a different type of koru. We also used different colours. We had to pant the back ground on this side. We used green and blue glitter on the other side and this side we used red and gold glitter.

Butterfly miracle

Yesterday the butterfly came out off its chrysalis. We all got to see it come out. It pushed with its tiny feet and finally it came out. It was all scrunched up and small. Sooner or later another one came out they were both all scrunched up like a sausage. Soon they got their blood flowing in their wings and by the end off the day they were flying. The next day we had to set them free after lunch.
