CONGRATULATIONS to Janaya and Brya!!!

YES girls, you posted the 1000th blog post this year!  I think there should be a treat for you guys tomorrow.

Last day of swimming

On the 6 of December Room 6 had our last day at the Mosgiel pool. Imogen
was my swimming coach and Janaya's coach was Chris.  We enjoyed having
swimming lessons.  When we got there my group started at the deep end.  When
we got in we had to do 8 lengths.  It was hard and tiring. After we
did freestyle and backstroke. At the end of swimming we got the whole class
and we played penguins.  I had great fun.  I can not wait till next time.

Santa parade

On Sunday it was the Santa Parade. There were lots of people. The best part
was the gymnastics and I saw Zara. There were lots of different things
there and lots of different songs like Barbie and we wish you a merry
Christmas.  There were the seven dwarfs.  I liked that too. I saw my friend sitting outside the mall with my cousin.  After the Santa parade I got my photo
taken with Santa and got some lollies.
I had fun on Sunday.

Room 6 had their first day at swimming.  I could not wait until we got
there. When I first got in the pool I was very cold but when I did my
first length in the water I did not feel cold anymore. I had fun having
my first swimming lesson and can not wait til next time. My three goals are
I need to keep my arm straight, bend my elbows, and keep my head down.

The clock tower

Once upon a time there was a little girl that lived in a clock tower . She
was magical because when she danced the clock moved It was amazing. There
were balloons floating in the air when she danced on bolts. When she stopped
dancing everything went black and white.  She lived in the clock tower all
by herself.  She had no parents, no sisters and no brothers. When she was
happy dancing the world was colorful but when she was sad it was black and
white.

Making people

On Monday the 19th of November Mrs K brought a new friend of hers to school.  Her
name was Mrs Bush.  We did some art.  We got pice of paper then
there was a box full of dye. We had to dip the piece of paper into the
box. When we took it out it was blue and green. Then we cut out a person from newspapaer. Then we put the person on the blue and green background and we got a
paint brush and flick it on to the background and then hung it up.  It was
fun.

Room six dance

At room six assembly all of the girls did a dance. There were some fights but then we had only Friday to finish it. So then we had to get a move on so there was no fighting or we would not be able to do a dance.
Three people went on ski camp. They were Mia, Anahera and Michaela and they were in the dance and they were really good at the dance but they were kind so they helped us get the dance ready for assembly. But on Thursday all the girls had to do the dance in front of the boys. The first time it was not so good but on Friday we were better and we got the sign of happiness. So then we got to do the dance for the assembly. We were nervous but we practiced so then we would not be nervous. All of the girls wanted to do the dance first because if we were last then we might get cut off and that would not be good because we practiced for two weeks and all the girls would be sad.
The dance went well and all the girls liked it and everyone clapped.

Stray...

It is a dark and quiet and lonely in a stray dog’s life. No one is out because it is night time and no one is letting me in. I live where there is a dump. I am afraid of the dark. At night I am far, far away of a house. The persons house that I did live at must of not of loved me. I wish someone would just come for a walk and find me because I am hungry and thirsty, because no one has fed me. So that might mean that if no one feeds me I will die because I am starving and thirsty. Maybe I should go for a walk and see if someone will feed me. If no one does then I will try and find some food. If I can not then I will try and find some water that I can drink. Okay, I am off for a walk to see if I can find some food or some water to drink or I will go back and find some one that can feed me and that can give me a drink because now I am very, very thirsty. Oh no, now I am very thirsty and very lost.  Oh, look, there is an old woman and an old man. Maybe they might look after me and feed me. I will go and ask if they can look after me and love me and keep me nice and warm and away from the dark and keep me a way from the cold and give me lots of water and feed me. I am going to go and ask them if they can. If they cannot then I will be dead and I would hate that because I am starving and very thirsty. Oh look, they have lifted me up and they are taking me home and laying me on the chair and doing all the stuff I wanted them to do.

First Aid in Room 6

A Visit from Belinda!
Today in class we had a special guest come in to talk to us from St John. First she talked about bleeding noses and what we should do. Aaliyah was the chosen volunteer and Belinda dabbed some fake blood around her nose. She said to lean your head forward and hold the soft part of your nose for 10-20 minutes and if your nose bleeds for longer than 20 minutes you need to go to the doctor and get it checked. After a nose bleed don't pick, poke, blow or sniff.
Next we did bee stings. You have to scrape the bee sting out carefully so that you don't squeeze the poison into yourself.
Then we focused on slings, Zara was the demonstrator to show us how to tie a sling on someone. After we got to see how to tie them we got to do it on each other.
Then we learnt about grazes and when they start to bleed and when they do how to clean it and put a plaster on. You cannot dab and wipe you have to be careful and make sure that you get all of the stones, dirt, grass and other things that cause infection. Thomas was the volunteer for grazes. Thomas had to think of something that he had done to have caused the bleeding.
Ciara was the last one to show that you need to wear a helmet on a skateboard and a bike and a scooter or you can get very hurt. Ciara had to pretend she had fallen off a skateboard and broke her arm and she had a big scratch on her arm and it was bleedings and we learnt to never move some one even if she was on the road because you can get the cars to go round the person.
At the end of the session we had to get a partner to pretend that we fall off the skateboard and needed to check if there was any blood on the person.

Starting the bottle bivy

In room 6 we have been collecting milk bottles.  We washed the ones that smelt then we put them in bundles of 10 and tied them.  We have lots of milk bottles in tens and we have got to 250. We have put them in the container and they are hanging on a desk. We love collecting them and putting them in bundles of 10. It is so fun. We have to get to 400.We are past half way there we need about 200 more. But we still have more to wash and tie.

Photo Mosaic...

The ladies found this weird fruit in the supermarket.  It was prickly and it is called a Kiwano.  It was green on the inside and it was orange on the outside.
