The art gallery trip

Yesterday we went to the Art Gallery to make clay animals with John. When we got there John showed us around the gallery explaining about all the paintings. They were all from a collection that was from all the most famous paintings up and down New Zealand. Then we went to the place where we made the creations. We all sat down at some tables and got given some clay. We had about two minutes to mess around with the clay trying it out. Then John called us over to show how to do the base or the figure of the animal we were trying to do. He taught us how to do eyes and other little special features on our creation too! Now we are ready to start creating! We all worked very hard and our clay became animals. Everyone's looked fantastic!

Instalment three...

When we got to the butterfly Museum we put all of our bags down and had some afternoon tea. When we had all finished afternoon tea we got ready to do some activities with Heather our leader for the day. We went around in groups looking at lots of things in the museum. Then we did some activities. We had to come up with lots of habitats and write them down on our white board. Our group came up with heaps but when someone read out there anwsers they had all of ours so we had to cross them off . Next in our groups we had to choose a habbitate and dress a member of our group up in newspapper of a animal who lives there. We chose cliff live like hares and rabbits. We dressed a member of our group half hare and half eagle. He looked funny. When it was show time we had to talk about our creature and what it likes to eat. Some of the creatures looked amazing. Then next we went back to discovery world for a play and a look around. Some people were playing tag and some people were relaxing like me. After a while we met our night leaders Sam and Averil but Averil has to go home when we go to sleep. They said a few more minutes of playing then we will have some dinner. At dinner time we had PIZZA. It was so delicious. When we were all full we had to line up and we went for a night walk to look at a new creature that was not meant to be seen yet. When we were in the dark it wasn't scary at all. We got to a point when there was a big crocodile on the ground and everyone tripped over it. We sat down and Averil turned the lights on so we could listen to Sam. We looked behind us and there were two big moas but Sam wasn't too sure if this was the new creature. She told us about the moa. I learnt heaps from that, like where they used to live and how they became extinct. We got to look around at some animals and then Averil turned the lights of and we went back to have some supper and set up where we were going to sleep. For supper we had lots and lots of fruit. We set up our beds and put down our sleeping bags and pillow. We got our pj's on and brushed our teeth and she had to talk to us again. Then we all went to bed and she turned the lights off.

Another exciting installment from Laura...

After the police station we got ready to walk up Baldwin St. All of our hearts were racing and we were prepered to walk up and down up and down. We all started of not tired at all but half way up the street we were all puffing and huffing. When we got to the top we got a drink from the drink fountine and started to walk back down. At the bottom we knew there was one more to go. This time I went up and down the stairs. It was way easier. After the Baldwin St challenge we all got in our cars and went straight to the S.P.C.A.. At the S.P.C.A we went to meet a lady who was going to talk to us about animals and how she got lots of animals. She also told us stories about puppies people found in a trash can and a rubbish bag. We learnt what you have to do to a animal to keep it happy. After the talk we got to look at all the animals. She said once she has showed where to go you can go around in your car groups and you can hop in the cages with them. I went straight to the cats and the kittens. They were so cute. I got to pick a really small kitten up. It was light. Then I went to see the puppies. I got in a cage with three and they were cute. One tried to eat my shoe lace. After looking at all of the animals we said thanks and went back to our cars a drove on down to The Settlers Museum. When we finally arrived at the Settlers Museum we met a lady. She said we can have our lunch in the classroom. After we had our lunch we got out six boxes of dominoes and stated making cool patterns. My friends and I joined together to make one big one. Once and a while the whole classroom was joined together and we were about to make them all fall down. Callum pushed down his starting point and the dominoes all started to fall down. It looked really cool. There were 10,000 dominoes and once they had all fallen down we had to pick them up and put them i colour coded boxes. There was one box and green, red, orange, blue, black and a box of yellow. It didn't take us that long to pick them all up. After the 10,000 domino challenge we were of to the Museum. We were staying the night.

The most amazing adventure of all time...

All of Room 6 met in our class room and we were already to go for the most amazing adventure of all time. THE MUSEUM SLEEPOVER. Finally the day has come. When the bell rung we all talked about the museum sleepover and what was going to happen over the next two days. Mrs K said that we will be going to the police station first. We got in our car groups put all of our heavy backs in the boot and off we went for the start of our adventure. When we got to the police station we went down the long hallways and we finally got to our destination. Mr Ellwood chose six people to follow him and we carried on with the tour. Mr Scott lead us into a dark room and them the six people walked by and stood against the wall. We could see them but they couldn't see us. We talked to them through a speeaker on the wall. After the amazing one way window they lead us to the cell and the holding cell. They locked us in the holding cells.

The Museum Sleepover

On Thursday we went on our Museum sleepover. We were all very excited. First we went to the police station. I would not like to be in a cell because I thought it was really cold in there.
Then we went to Baldwin St and it was very steep but I did manage to get to the top and back twice.
We went to the SPCA for a tour and I liked the kittens the best.
After that we went to the 10,000 domino challenge at the early settlers museum. It was cool when all the dominos fell down.
Then we went to the museum and we did some activities and finally Discovery world. After we played in discovery world we went to get our sleeping bags, pillows and mattresses and set up camp. We had pizza for tea which was yummy. We went on a night walk and it was a little spooky, then we came back and had supper. Then we went to bed.
After breakfast we went to the butterflies and after that we said goodbye to our instructors and then did our last activity. We had to answer questions around the museum. After the activity we spent more time at discovery world. My favourite thing to do at discovery world was the electrical circles because the electricity was attracted to your hand.
When we left the museum we went to moana pool and the hydroslide was ours for 2 hours. It was really cool that our class were the only ones allowed on the hydroslide. When we all got out we went to a meeting room and did our performances. They were all very good.
Even though I didn't get much sleep and found the night time challenging I still had a great time.
Thank you Mrs K for organising anotheer sleepover for us.

The Museum Sleepover

We have just came back from the musuem sleepover. I wish we could of stayed longer because it was so fun. My favourite place was the Otago Settlers Museum. That's where we did the 10,000 DOMINO CHALLENGE. At first it seemed impossible but with some team work we all did it and it was so amazing. I think now we can work as a team better.

These are some of the places we went to on the sleepover. It was lots of fun going to all the places. Some of the places we have never been to before...

Staying at the museum...

At the SPCA there was a very skinny dog called Nemo.  Now he is fatter than he used to be because Marjorie is looking after him, and she fed him lots.
